Alvin William McGuire Jr., 58, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his residence in North Vernon, Indiana. Mr. McGuire was born on August 10, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Alvin William and Helen Perdue McGuire Sr. Mr. McGuire married Joyce Shipley on August 28, 1971 on an airplane at the North Vernon Airport, North Vernon, Indiana. Mr. McGuire retired in 2003 from Muscatatuck Development Center in Butlerville, Indiana after 13 years of being a fire tender at the fire house. He had previously worked as a conductor for the B.O. Railroad from 1969 to 1981. He was a 1969 graduate of Jennings County High School in North Vernon, Indiana. His hobbies included collecting metal toys, working on small engines, restoring classic cars, playing poker and watching birds. He is survived by his wife, a son, Jason (wife Brandi) McGuire of Commiskey, Indiana; A daughter, Amber (husband Andy) Elsner of North Vernon, Indiana. A brother, John McGuire of Georgia; a sister, Candy Caudill of North Vernon, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Randi, Kila, and Melanie McGuire and Lane Elsner. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Luke Elsner; a sister, Evelyn Howard and a brother, Nathan McGuire. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Dove- Sharp& Rudicel Funeral Home with Rev. Larry McIntosh officiating. Friends may call at the Dove- Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
