Ralph Emerson Barnes, 87, of Converse, Indiana formerly of Paris Crossing, Indiana passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at his residence in Converse, Indiana Mr. Barnes was born on November 13, 1922 in Marion Township, in Jennings County, Indiana. He was the son of Manvile T. and Elizabeth Armilda "Betha" Robinson Barnes. Mr. Barnes was a farmer for 30 years and had worked for the Paris Crossing Post Office for 2 years. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He served as an Airplane Mechanic in England. He was a 1941 graduate of Paris Crossing High School in Paris Crossing, Indiana. He was a member of Coffee Creek Baptist Church in Paris Crossing, Indiana. He loved animals. Surviving are his sisters, Mable Hendrix of Paris Crossing, Indiana; and Freeda Woods of Marysville, Washington; a caregiver, Carol Mooreman-Reed of Converse, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lucille Grizard. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Pastor James Soblotne officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Cana Cemetery in Paris Crossing, Indiana. Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to Mercy Rescue of Jennings County or Cana Cemetery.
