Henry John "Chick" Reichert, Jr., 86, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Reichert was born on April 23, 1923 in Burkettsville, Ohio. He was the son of Henry John Reichert, Sr. and Madeline Lauber Reichert. He married his first wife, Mabel Aris Carrier on December 27, 1947. She preceded him in death on January 6, 1998. He married his second wife, Louise West on January 23, 2001 in Carrollton, Kentucky. She survives.

Mr. Reichert retired from Rockwell in Columbus, Indiana as a production engineer. He had worked for Rockwell from 1945 till 1985. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon, Indiana and was a member and past president (1992-1993) of Kiwanis in Columbus, Indiana. He was a 1941 graduate of Chaminade High School in Dayton, Ohio. Was a veteran of the United States Navy, served in the Solomon Islands during World War II. He enjoyed baseball, bowling, fishing's and gardening.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Cathy Casse and her husband Steve of Greenwood, Indiana, Debbie Kubik of Denver, Colorado; two step-sons, Richard Miller and his wife Julie and Shawn Miller and his wife Vicky both of North Vernon, Indiana. three step-daughters, Cindy Taskey and her husband Scott, Tina Walker and her husband Steve, and Susan Miller all of Columbus, Indiana; one sister, Charlene Sweet and her husband Harold of Dayton, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Kerry Kubik of Denver, Colorado, Josh Casse of Indianapolis, Indiana, Clint Spencer of Elizabethtown, Indiana, Blake and Dustin Casse of Noblesville, Indiana, Greg Taskey of Columbus, Indiana, Derrick Taskey and his wife Lindsey of Westport, Indiana, Lyndsay, Michael, Weston and Zachary Miller all of North Vernon, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two brothers, Jim and Louis Reichert; three sisters, Anna Marie Dell, Viola Robbins, and Alberta Davis.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at St Mary's Catholic Church, North Vernon, Indiana with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating. A Graveside service was held on October 8th at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. Local arrangements were entrusted in the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana.

Memorials may be made through Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund or the Humane Society.
