Eddie Lee Willhite, 71, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Willhite was born on March 1, 1938 in Washington, Indiana the son of Ruby B. Faith Willhite of North Vernon, Indiana and the late Clyde B. Willhite.
Mr. Willhite worked for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana for 10 years as an Electrician retiring in 2000. He served in the United States Navy from March 3, 1955 until February 26, 1959. He attended North Vernon High School in North Vernon, Indiana. His hobbies included crossword puzzles and NASCAR especially Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mark Martin.
Surviving with his mother are, his companion of 17 years, Mary Jean Todd of North Vernon, Indiana, two sons, Larry Willhite of North Vernon, Indiana and Brian Willhite and his wife Sandy of West Virginia; four daughters, Tanya Mullikin of Brownstown, Indiana, Erin Willhite of Commiskey, Indiana, Anissa McCrory and her husband Clyde and Missy Young and her husband Rob both of North Vernon, Indiana; two brothers, Jerry Willhite of Lake Wales, Florida and Robert Willhite of North Vernon, Indiana; two sisters, Shelby Jean Marling and her husband Max of Paris Crossing, Indiana and Betty Young and her husband Eddie of Lovett, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, a son, Kevin Willhite; three granddaughters, Tasha Dudzik, Mackenzie Moore and Misty Moore; one grandson, Jordan Willhite.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Damon Marling officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. A Committal Service will be held in the Vernon Cemetery on the following Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with members of Matt Hester Post #2021, Veterans of Foreign Wars giving Military graveside rites.
Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to Riley's Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
