L. Marshall Malcomb, 63, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, Indiana.

Mr. Malcomb was born on June 11, 1946 in Lovett Township of Jennings County, Indiana, the son of Lewis Estal and Doris Edna Frazier Malcomb.

Mr. Malcomb worked for Newhouser Nursery as assistant manager in Fort Wayne, Indiana from 1991 until 1996, and had previously worked as a teacher for Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne University and sometimes for St. Francis University from 1985 until 1987 and for Fort Wayne Community Schools from 1968 until 1984, all in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a 1964 graduate of North Vernon High School; he received his Bachelors' Degree in Latin & English in 1968 and his Masters of Arts for Teachers in 1973 both from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. His enjoyments were gardening, nature especially trees and keeping poultry flock.

Mr. Malcomb is survived by his brother, Warren (Betsy) Malcomb of North Vernon, Indiana; three sisters, Louise Malcomb of Bloomington, Indiana, Marie Garrity of North Vernon, Indiana and Martha Davis of Colorado Spring, Colorado; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mae Haney.

Graveside services were conducted on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in the Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the Lovett Township Fire Department.
