Harriett A. Perkins, 80 of Butlerville, Indiana passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mrs. Perkins was born on October 17, 1929 in North Vernon, Indiana the daughter of John H. Huffman, Sr. and Josephine Iola Hill Huffman. She married Richard Glen Perkins on September 13, 1950 in Vernon, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1989.
Mrs. Perkins worked for 18 years at Deaton's Grocery in Butlerville, Indiana, she had previously worked for Barnes Grocery and the Park Theater both in North Vernon, Indiana. She was a 1947 graduate of North Vernon High School. She was a Past Chapter President of PSI XI OTA Alpha Omega Chapter in North Vernon, Indiana, Charter member of Jennings County Hospital Guild, member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, First Baptist Church, both in North Vernon, Indiana, Red Hat Society and a volunteer for the Cancer and Heart Funds. Her hobbies included playing card, boating, crafts, watching her birds, spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Rob" L. Perkins and his wife Debbie, Richard "Rick" W. Perkins both of North Vernon, Indiana; two sisters, Virginia Wilson of St. Marcos, Texas and Willa May "Wendy" Powell of North Vernon, Indiana; four grandchildren, Amiee Pereira , and her husband Mike of Summerville, South Carolina, Lisa Perkins of Atlanta, Georgia, Matthew Perkins and his wife Sarah of Cincinnati, Ohio and Amanda Perkins of North Vernon, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Isabelle Pereira of Summerville, South Carolina and Kaelie Cole of North Vernon, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, John Huffman, Jr. and Eugene Hill.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12. 2010, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Marvin Sweet officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
