June Ellen League, 71, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 2:33 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mrs. League was born on June 4, 1939, in Delaware County, Indiana, the daughter of Reesie Robert and Clara Anna Knopp Hatton. She married Kenneth George League on September 4, 1960 in Paris Crossing, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2000.
Mrs. League worked for 20 years at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana retiring as a DST in 2001, before going to work at Muscatatuck she was a homemaker. She was a 1958 graduate of North Vernon High School, and a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included reading and watching NASCAR.
Survivors include four sons, Paul Andrew League and his wife Cindy of Greensburg, Indiana, Kenneth Ivan Theodore League and his wife Lisa of Milford, Indiana, Daniel Eli League and his wife Rome and Allen Lynn League all of North Vernon, Indiana; three daughters, Amy Dawn Kessler and her husband John of Cedar Rapid, Iowa, Wendy Gail Harmon and her husband Travis of Dupont, Indiana, Beth Nadine League of North Vernon, Indiana; one brother, Robert Reesie Hatton of North Vernon, Indiana; two sisters, Jeanne Carol Holwager and her husband George of Commiskey, Indiana and Beverly Ruth Kirchner of North Vernon, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Vince Bruce of Portland, Oregon, Alexandria League of Milford, Indiana, Shasta and Cody Vierling of Westport, Indiana. Kolton Harmon of Dupont, Indiana, Nina Bruce, Destinee Sexton, Jazimar, Samanntha, Skyler and Elizabeth League all of North Vernon, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, James Ruben Hatton in 1983 and a great-grandson, Xavier Briar Ross on October 2, 2009.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
